Housing: Produce, Preserve, Protect
Since moving to Montgomery County, I have been grateful to build a life here. I’ve also seen firsthand the struggles many families face just to find safe, stable housing. Last winter, during the blizzard, I helped children and families stay warm when neighborhoods lost power and heat. Witnessing their fear and uncertainty reminded me that a home is more than a roof—it is security, dignity, and the foundation for a life where families can thrive.
Too many families in our county still face that same challenge. Working people are being priced out of the neighborhoods they love. Seniors who built our communities are being forced to leave. Housing costs are rising at an alarming rate, even as luxury developments flourish—often with public subsidies—while hardworking families are left scrambling. This is not just an economic issue; it is a moral one. Housing is a human right, and no one should be denied that right because of their income or the circumstances of their birth.
As your representative on the County Council At-Large, I pledge to fight for housing that is truly affordable for everyone. I will champion policies that preserve existing affordable homes, support seniors in aging in place, and create new housing near Metro and public transit so families can live where they work and children can grow up in the communities they know. I will protect renters from displacement and predatory practices, and hold developers accountable to ensure growth does not come at the expense of working families.
This is about more than buildings—it’s about keeping families together, giving children the stability to succeed, and building communities where no one is left behind. It’s about fairness, justice, and making Montgomery County a place where everyone, no matter their income, can live, work, and thrive. Together, we can ensure that housing is not a privilege for a few, but a foundation for all.
